England 3-1 Slovenia match report
Skipper Rooney scored from the sport on his 100th England appearance to equal Jimmy Greaves'
goal record of 44
A Wayne Rooney penalty and a Danny Welbeck brace handed England a comfortable win in their Euro 2016 qualifier - but only after visitors Slovenia stunned Wembley by taking the lead.
After a dull first half when the hosts struggled to get any kind of rhythm going on a poor pitch which was showing the effects of a recent NFL game, the match sparked into life in the second half.
From a Slovenia corner, Jordan Henderson headed the ball past a helpless Joe Hart into the England net to give the away side a shock lead.
It did not last long.
Just a minute later and Wayne Rooney - who was presented with a gold cap by Sir Bobby Charlton before kick off to mark his 100th international appearance - was tripped in the box.

He took the spot kick himself and with the equaliser, matched Jimmy Greaves England goals record of 44. Now only Charlton and Gary Lineker have more goals for the Three Lions than Rooney.
Not ten minutes later and England took the lead through Rooney's strike partner Danny Welbeck.
Adam Lallana did well to get a shot away, which was cleared by Slovenia keeper Handanovic, but only as far as Welbeck, who scuffed his shot, but it still found the back of the net.
The Arsenal man added a much classier effort to his England tally five minutes later when. Left-back Kieran Gibbs played the ball to Raheem Sterling, who completed a one-two with Welbeck, who controlled and slotted him across the keeper from the left hand side of the six-yard box.

Martin Lipton's verdict
Well, that was better. Much better.
It took a massive jolt to the system, courtesy of Jordan Henderson's own goal, to get England going.
But Rooney's determination and desire brought the instant penalty response, which the skipper converted.
And then two more from Welbeck, taking him to five from four qualifying games, completed the turnaround.
England finally showed the vigour and intensity they had lacked horribly in the first half.

Hodgson recognised the need for change and altered the shape. Maybe the diamond is best for away games, rather than when you have to make the pace?
But that's four wins out of four. Clear at the top of Group E.
No boos at the end. A good half-job, well done. And it means we can all forget the first 45 minutes.
England: Hart, Clyne, Gibbs, Henderson, Cahill, Jagielka (Smalling), Wilshere, Lallana, Welbeck, Rooney, Sterling (Oxlade-Chamberlain)
Slovenia: Handanovic; Brecko, Cesar, Ilic, Struna; Kirm, Birsa, Kampl, Kurtic; Mertelj, Novakovic.
